The best solar generators (power stations for solar)

A 'solar generator' is a power station plus solar panels. What matters is how many watts of panels the station accepts: more solar input means a faster refill and more days off-grid.

We rank stations that accept at least 400 W of solar by solar input first, then capacity, value, battery life and output. Real panels rarely produce their rated watts; plan on about 75% in good sun.

How to choose

Solar input watts

Divide the capacity by solar input and by 0.75 to estimate hours of good sun for a full charge.

Voltage and amp limits

Each station has a voltage window and amp limit (for example 12–60 V, 20 A). Panels must be wired within both.

Peak sun hours

Most of the US gets 4–5 peak sun hours a day. 1,000 W of panels yields roughly 3–4 kWh on a good day.

Panels sold separately

Every station here is sold without panels unless the listing says otherwise.

Frequently asked questions

How many solar panels do I need?

Divide your daily watt-hours by about 3.4 (4.5 sun hours × 75%). For 2,000 Wh a day you'd want about 600 W of panels.

Can I use any solar panel?

Any panel whose voltage and current fall inside the station's input limits, with a compatible connector (usually XT60 or Anderson) or an adapter.

Can I charge from solar and the wall at once?

Several models, including the Jackery HomePower 3600 Plus and EcoFlow DELTA 3, accept both for faster charging.
